◓ 8th Catch [Written/Action]

[Action]

[Green has skipped out on training, over the past few days, keeping himself busy with taking notes and giving his Pokémon a break.

He will, however, be bugging his fellow Pokémon trainers, both the ones new to Pokémon and the ones from Pokémon worlds, with exception to Masaomi. He's got quite a few people he needs to talk to. He'll find them wherever they may usually be spending their day, unless they're not seeing anyone.]

[Written: Filtered from Masaomi]

I don't like to be vague and ask pointless questions, but for what reason do people gather strength in your world?

I've had a poor conversation and need to have a better grasp of overall context.

I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to, not since the last time I tried doing a tasting for him and his Pikachu. [Which was back in like...August and we would have willingly worked with him again sooner, but...busy with Christmas stuff, and now Gold has us working on something for him too.]

But I did speak with him a little--he seemed to have a spirited taste at the time, which isn't particularly unexpected coming from Masaomi. [But we haven't spoken quite as much since then within the last month.]
cilantro: (but do we have enough tape for that...)

I see... [Hrm] What was the answer he gave when you tried to ask him about that?

[Decent or not, we're interested to know.]

...Ah, one of those type of answers.

[Well, judging by Cilan's tone now, he does seem to understand your concern. He's frowning now as he sighs.] Admittedly it's not an uncommon taste to have some trainers with that type of answer, but it's certainly not the type of answer that I'd personally want to hear.
cilantro: (sorry. also you're going to prison.)

[Oh?] Is that what bothers you the most about it, rather than just any trainer having that opinion?

[In the world of Pokemon that we're familiar with, it's not uncommon for many trainers to have Pokedexes, but from the sounds of it, they seem to have a slightly different significance in your world...]
cilantro: (bianca no that's not how it works)

[...Green was the grandson of Professor Oak in Kanto? Huh, interesting, but Cilan saves his interest in that for now to address the actual issue at hand as he listens to what Green has to say and mulls it over a little.]

Hm, I see...in Unova, the Pokedex was given out to any new trainer by our region's Professor like any other region normally does, last I was aware, but it sounds like things are different where you're from...and sadly, I've met a few trainers, with or without pokedexes, that have made it clear that what they seek is strength over companionship with their Pokemon, even if it's not spoken aloud. [Trip, as a mild example, or that one asshole kid who abandoned Tepig as an extreme example...]

Still...this is a rather disappointing taste--Masaomi, while reckless in regards to a few of the strategies he comes up with, he did seem to show some promise with Linda when I first battled him months ago... [At one point he threw himself in front of one of the attacks of our Pokemon rather than letting his Pikachu get hit by it, so he's not sure if he can qualify Masaomi's attention towards Linda as only "passive", but...though, nor does Cilan ever want to think he was wrong about anything but I digress.]

Mm...and do you have any ideas yet on how you wish to rectify this, if you don't mind my asking?

[Do you actually have a plan of what to do to fix the situation, or are you still not sure about what exactly should be done about it...]
cilantro: (hey baby do you come here often)

Of course. [And for a moment, Cilan sounds vaguely relieved at the latter comment--it sounds like your intentions for doing this are good, if it's to help him with problems like that rather than simply "I just don't approve of his opinions" sort of thinking. (But of course, we don't know what all Masaomi has said other than just caring about strength, so...)

There's a pause before he speaks up again.]
I don't know if I can agree on going so far as to confiscate his Pokedex [and that's mostly just because of his cultural differences as to what a pokedex means to us personally], but I do hope that Masaomi gets the training and insight he needs--while it's true that one's Pokemon can be incredibly strong, as a Pokemon Trainer you have to work on your own skills as well and grow stronger together, not just allowing your Pokemon to fight the battle on their own...the person standing by the Pokemon counts just as much as the Pokemon fighting by their side.

Now that, I certainly wouldn't approve of, nor allow to happen. [Taking away Masaomi's Pokemon or allowing him to potentially hurt others? He doesn't indicate which action he means by that (though to be honest he sort of means both, mostly the latter), but Cilan certainly sounds a little more serious, considering that he's made very few "taste" comments at the moment.]

If you're that worried, then it's best to make sure he understands how important it is to have a bond with one's Pokemon--Masaomi is from a world that doesn't have Pokemon and from what I can tell, has regarded their creatures as merely "pets" up until now. I don't entirely blame him for having skewed ideas when it comes to how he might have initially seen Pokemon as merely "creatures with special powers", because of that. [There's a slight pause, but as much as he hates to acknowledge it--] And this world, Luceti, has a very different taste from ours as well, which doesn't help when surrounded by others with different strengths and weaknesses than your own and fighting in battles you've never had to take part in before, not knowing what you're supposed to do so that you won't be left behind...or worse, you and your friends being seriously injured because you were too indecisive and unsure of yourself to make the proper choice.

[That said, however...] ...But, I suppose I'm merely an observer in regards to this particular situation, attempting to analyze the taste from both sides. I agree that your point of view is the right one, but Masaomi and Linda's point of view isn't one to be simply ignored either. In the past, I might have agreed with you about just removing that Pikachu from his care right at the first suggestion, but...well, I'd like to think that it's possible to work with someone and try to reach an understanding first, before resorting to something like that...

[(Though that might be because we're from the colorful kid-friendly animeverse where friendship is magic and stuff... ^^;;)]

It could be. When we had battled with Masaomi months ago, he and Linda appeared to be getting along amicably enough despite the battle ending in our favor, so it's possible something might have happened recently that has made him believe that they're too weak, resulting in Masaomi's current attitude and his Pokemon's disobedience.

[But, of course, that's just one theory. Pansage, who has been keeping relatively quiet and just listening to them talk, chatters something in Pokemon speak, what sounds like an agreement to what Cilan's saying.]

I didn't say it was--it's just a theory for why he may be acting the way he is right now. Mistreating Pokemon or raising one improperly is never an "excusable" taste...

[There's a pause before he adds.] I don't think Masaomi's a bad person; just ignorant. But with the proper guidance, he can learn about what it really means to be a Pokemon trainer.
